Beach Party Summertime Fun for Families & Kids!

THE BOB & THE BEACHCOMBERS WING OF THE MUSEUM OF ROCK & ROLL HISTORY

1990
Bob the Beachcomber & Friends

1990 was also the year that Bob put together the "Bob the Beachcomber & Friends" family and children's show that soon also featured his four year old son, as "Surfer Shawn". The new program was a hit and Shawn was the star of the show as they traveled the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota performing at Kindercares, ECFE events, county fairs, schools, and concerts in the park.

Shawn even made frequent appearances at shows with the full band where he would help out with stage management, crowd control and prize distribution, as well playing and singing with the Beachcombers to enthusiastic audiences. After the show, Shawn could often be found signing autographs and passing out newsletters.

By the time he was five, though, Shawn had had enough of life on the road and he retired to focus on his education as he entered kindergarten at Oak Ridge Elementary School. Little did he or his father know that 14 years later, Shawn would rejoin the Beachcombers as their drummer...

Everyone loves to "Beach Party", and now the kids can join in the fun, with this special show for families and children, "Bob the Beachcomber and Friends"! Everyone is encouraged to sing along, clap their hands, stomp their feet, get up and dance, and enjoy familiar music featuring everything from the Beach Boys to Raffi, "SpongeBob Squarepants" to Elvis, and "Bob the Builder" to Scooby-Doo!! We might even do the Limbo!
